Cardonia - Collection C. Kleiss
      At San Feliú de Guixols. She was built by American International Shipbuilding Corporation, at Hog Island, Philadelphia, belonging to the design 1022 in the WWI standard Program. She was owned by the United States Government until bought on1933 by Lykes Bros.-Ripley Steamship Company, that on 1938 became Lykes Bros. Steamship Company. Whilst owned by the United States Government her home port was Philadelphia, and when bought by Lykes was transfered to New Orleans.
      She was sunk on 7/March/1942 close to northern Haiti by the German submarine U-126. She was first torpedoed but as not sinking she was gun fired until sunk. One of her 38 crew was killed.
