      She was the third in a series of four reefers built for Pescanova at Astilleros de Palma. They bore the names of the Galician provinces, the first being Pontevedra, built in 1963, of 998 Gross Register Tons and 65.3 meters length. The second was the Coruña, built in 1964, with 1,204 GRT and 75.6 meters length. The third and fourth, Lugo and Orense, were sister ships of 1,204 GRT and 72.7 meters length, being built in 1965 and 1967 respectively.
