Bahia de Coruña
Bahia de Coruña by T. Diedrich
A very old ship. In this photo shot in 1961 she was 108 years old, built in 1853 by Ty W. Smit at Newcastle (United Kingdom).
This must be one of the longest-lived ships in the world merchant marine, as she was scrapped at the age of 112. Her old 150 H.P. reciprocating compound steam machine gave her about 7 knots. She was still consuming coal, about 10 MT a day, so her capacity of bunkers (35 MT) was not enough to go very far.
