The first Mosquitera was acquired in 1906, and she sank on 29/November/1923 due to a collision with the Pepin.
She was dedicated to the transport of iron ore from the Llumeres mine, since larger ships could not enter the port, until 1922 when an aerial cable with hanging cauldrons was put into service to transport the ore.

        In 1934 Duro Felguera sold the first Ciaño to Compañía Naviera Amaya, that renamed her Axpe, and bought to the same company the Vicen, that became the second Ciaño. It seems that the interchanged vessels suited better their trades. This second Ciaño was very long time in the company fleet: 37 years.
