She was lost on 29-March-1937 after grounding close to Bayonne (France), in the River Adour mouth. The grounding was to avoid the sinking due a water ingress after attacked by two Nacionalist ships.
Mar Caspio - Collection R. Rul
She had been seized at the Civil War start by the Republic Government and used in international trades to get foreign currency. The grounding was at only 10 miles from Bayonne (France), when inbound with 2,000 MT of coal loaded at Newcastle.

These photos show her grounded, beated by the sea. They were shot by Louis Rul on 01-April-1937, and on some of them are also his sons Albert and Raymond. Besides the above photos, maybe the only ones showing the Mar Caspio grounded, Roland Rul sent also a set of photos that, although differ with the purpose of these pages, I have also added because they show great historical interest.
